These comments should not be confused with the Oneness the new-age believers use in their religion.

To be one with something or someone for a moment is necessary for a shaman in order to feel the energies of the person or the object in mind. This often happens when the shaman heals a person or when he is trying to understand an object.

The drum or the rune rocks are such objects the shaman need to be one with when using them or he will not be able to get the message from their energies and understand what they want to communicate.

Usually the shaman gets into a sort of trance when becoming part of an object.

While becoming one with the person he is healing the shaman contacts his spirits to feel the illness or pain the person is suffering from and heals the person during this process.

To be one with or part of the spirits, the universe and God is an essential part of a shaman life when healing and understanding the world.

Yes,but this feeling of being a part of or one with, can turn up even if you are not doing a shamanic ritual for some purpose.
It can occur whenever it is possible, and for people who are not healing or transforming ,and do not have an understanding or knowlegde of shamanism.
And then I believe they feel it as a very groundbreaking thing in their life, and want to put a name on it...
...search for a explanation, search for a meaning of it all....hunting it again...
What I mean ,is that it is not a thing exclusively for shamans, and therefor it will have many names.

Hi FT,

Since this is a forum for shamanism, what do you choose to call what I just explained?

Peace and love

It has occurred, and I have long ago already called it to understand to be connected to Altet.
A non-dualistic experience.
(I never invented the new age term for Oneness, anyway.)
Words,words,words,blablabla..
Its all the same, people experience theese things, and try to connect to others with the same experience.
I am very happy we have nuances in what we share.
I have read about the new age Global Oneness Society you do not like so much ,and for what I know, their enthusiasm and mission may very well derive from a feeling of being connected to everything.
I do not know.
They maybe want to bring it further, the feeling of oneness,in another way than a traditional shaman who  maybe enters the states alone,on mushrooms-in trance, for one single purpose?
To take the feeling of oness to a level of acting oneness? Again, I do not know.

Here is an article i like about shamanism in a modern context:I hope it describes a bit of what I mean:
http://www.shamanismcanada.com/medicine.pdf

But also,in respect for alive and kicking "handed down through generations-traditions" of  shamanism, often suppressed minority groups struggling to keep their most presious cultural and spiritual and tribal treasure intact, not messed up by western need and greeed,I  kneel my head and admit that

Hi FT,

Have you ever tried to be one with an object or a person like shamans do?

This state of mind occurs when the shaman see no separation between his soul and the objects spirit or the other persons soul.

Ps. Im finished with trying to explain the difference between what I just described and the new age oneness.

Peace and love.

No,not for a shamanic purpose. Or any purpose.I do not have that selfconfidence yet.
But I have experienced  non-dualism.Quite scary.
Thats the reason I am here.
